The installation of aftermarket head unit

Updating the sound system is usually one of the first modifications attempted when we talk about car customization. The best place to start is with a good head unit. If you install it yourself, keep reading for some tips installers our experience.

You will need a few tools to do the job properly, then by collecting some screwdrivers (flat head and Phillips), a socket set to launch wire cutters, wire splitter, contraction joints or sleeves, electricalTape, cable ties, solder and a soldering iron and patience.

Pioneer Wiring Harness

The first thing I installed before I suggest you make the purchase of the stereo wiring for your vehicle would use. What makes the installation easier for you if you are a beginner, and allows for easier exchange of radio-bearing (if you sell the vehicle in the future) and replace or upgrade to another aftermarket head units.

Begin by filling out the negative battery cable fromBattery. This will ensure that you do not accidentally cross any wires and burn a new device. Then, remove the old controller. If you can see how this need is at your vehicle, you can try your application installdr.com vehicles. This is a great resource to see pictures of how to remove the head unit. Once loose, pull on a harness and the antenna from the head and remove it completely.

There are two types of wiring forcan get. And 'the universal wiring that connects your vehicles existing wiring, and has the unfinished end of the wire connecting the colored threads of your new head unit. There's also a wiring harness that has a strap at both ends, and fire only on both sides. These are the easiest to install, but can be harder to find ot your vehicle to match the main unit. Most harnesses are the universal type, so we'll focus on those. If you have received,Harness, you will see the colored wires in the back of the main unit. The wires on the main unit and the wiring must match. The head unit head and use the wires are joined in part for easy installation. There are several good ways to connect the wires. One way is to butt connectors, plug wires in a crimping operation. These can be almost anywhere that the head unit / install sold, or Walmart, etc. My favorite was one requiresSoldering iron and shrink sleeves. Twist the wires together firmly. Apply just enough solder to weld the two wires together. Now times that one of the parallel wires. Slide the sleeve over the connection and heat with a heat gun or hair dryer well. I need to rewire or repair systems that have been used butt connectors, but this could setup error and not a problem with the plug to be. I've never had a failure of solder joints.

After allThe connections are made, and heated and reduced the sleeves in place, I take a hose and tie it all together. To search for the excess strap clips for a clean finish. Connect the wiring connected to the head with the wiring of the vehicle. Connect the antenna (you can tell, you need an antenna adapter in some applications). Slide now available, the controller, but does not solve the problem yet. Connect the negative battery cable and turn your head to ensure units (which you turn the keythe ACC position). It should work properly at this point. If you add an amplifier, are planning or have already bought one for this installation, turn off the unit and connect the RCA cable. Run it through the amp on the blackboard and shot at the (more on how successful this in future articles).
